Post Six and Seven:Advanced Tools and Techniques.

Task One:
Complete your animation.

In order to gain achieved you must:
apply a set of advanced tools and techniques suited to the media to enhance the presentation of content.

In order to gain merit you must:
show accuracy in the application of advanced tools, techniques and procedures.

In order to gain excellence you must:
apply tools and techniques and undertaking procedures in a manner that economises the use of resource in the outcomes production and its usability (eg timely fashion, and optimisation of tool selection and use).

Task Two: Achieved

Explain how advanced tools and techniques have been used to create, edit and integrate digital media outcomes.

There were many tools used in the creation of my model such as mirroring and rigging the model with bones.
I used mirroring in my model so i only had to create half of the model and then just accept the mirror which would finish the model for me even though i had only completed half of it this helped me a lot as i only had  to do have of the work to complete my finished design. Another technique that was used in my model was rigging to help my model move i created a running animation for my character and made it do a few star jumps this was finished off by the running cycle again overall i believe that rigging a character is not easy if you do not have a picture to follow as i originally wanted to do a barrel roll but did not know how to put that into blender for a completed outcome.

Task Three: Merit

Discuss why advanced tools and techniques have been used to create, edit, and integrate digital media, and how their use has enhanced the outcome.

The advanced tool of rigging was used to create a animation for out character e.g. a walking or running animation or in my case a running animation with some star jumps. Rigging is not the easiest thing to accomplish as it took time and effort to create the animation after completing the  rigging of your character the rigging it self is straight forward once knowing how to do it. Rigging had enhanced my animation as it was what created my animation without rigging a animation is almost impossible but can be done but it is really time consuming. animation with the rigged bones is very easy as you changed to the "pose" option on blender and freely move your character into the correct positions.

Task Four: Excellence

Student can evaluate how the application of advanced tools, techniques affect the quality of digital media outcomes.

Using the advanced application tools and techniques of Rigging and animation my digital media outcome was greatly improved. My digital media outcome was greatly improved as if it wasn't for rigging i would not have been able to give my character movement freely. Animation put my character into a repeated video which showed my character running doing starjumps and running again which children can relate to as they do it in morning fitness which improves the character connection towards the audience.

Post Five: Conventions of a Digital Animation

Task One
Explain the standards and conventions used to produce digital media outcomes.

I've used both standards and conventions in my work. One of the many standards i have used for my digital outcome was the properties editor. The properties editor is used to changed the setting in which blender works for our animations changing these setting can result in the difference of a high grade outcome or a low grade outcome. i also used two different principles of animation which were "Appeal" and "straight ahead and pose to pose"

The "Straight ahead and pose to pose" principle of animation used two different techniques to create movement of a character. The pose to pose technique was used to produce a walk cycle from a image provided from our teacher. The technique of pose to pose uses key frames to track where each pose is and fills in the other key frames in so it is a smooth animation. to make a key frame the blender option has to be set into "Pose mode" and not edit or object mode.

The "appeal" principle of animation is used to make the character have a individual feel to it making it unique to itself this is made with it's appearance (how it looks in blender) and it's custom back story that was made for it. my character for instance looks like a officer of the law which instantly give you a feel that he has authority over others in certain situations.

Another thing that was used in blender was the Render Settings this includes the resolution frame range aspect ratio and frame rate i kept the resolution at X:1920 and Y: 1080 the frame range i used was Start frame: 0 End frame: 230 with 24 frames per second The type of image i used was a .PNG as it is a higher quality with loss less than it is with a .JPEG. After we collected out images from blender after rendering them we imported them into adobe after effects which then compressed them all into a small video clip which we submitted.

Task Two
Discuss the positive and negative implications of adhering to digital media outcome and conventions when developing digital media outcomes.
A positive impact on my development was the pose to pose key frames for the walk cycle which was really easy to follow as it was image based and we just had to match up the part of our mesh to where the drawing was. it also kept the volume of the mesh normal and did not affect it it the final render. pose to pose key frames had a 15 frame space to show that the frames were slow and not fast like a running pose to pose which has a interval of 6 frames between each image to show that it is moving faster which was compressed into a video at 24 frames per second. A negative outcome that i found was doing a animation freehand without a image to follow it made everything a lot harder to complete as you had to make the animation and make sure you didn't make the frames to spread apart or to close which could affect the the final outcome making it inconsistent e.g. fast pace to slow motion.

Task Three
Evaluate how the application of standards and conventions affect the quality of digital media outcomes.
The application of standards and conventions affected the quality of my digital media outcome as without the conventions of the twelve principles of animation the quality of my digital media outcome would have been greatly decreased as the "appeal" convention was a massive part of the digital media outcome as it is what made the character look like a character and not a mannequin The "Straight ahead and pose to pose" convention also paid a big part the the quality of my digital media outcome as it is what created the animation of my character. the animation of the character one of the most important parts of this digital media outcome as it involved a lot of different techniques to create a animation for you''re character.
Task Four: Excellence

Discuss the relationship between standards and conventions, in relation to the requirements of digital media outcomes.

The standards and conventions go together like butter on toast they both work together on improving the the final outcome of the digital media outcome the conventions help with the overall look of the model created while the standards help improve the look of the model in the properties editor. They both work hand in hard to improves the same part of the animation in this case the "appeal"  Both standards and conventions are a big part in the digital media outcome as they both help to improve the final outcome.

Post One ~ Questions/Research

What/who will be my character(s) be?
* Nasus League of legends (Infernal Skin)
http://gameinfo.oce.leagueoflegends.com/en/game-info/champions/nasus/

Aesthetics: At first look you would think that "Nasus" is a bad person you would think he doesn't protect anything and he lives to create destruction. Actually Nasus is a Keeper of the Great Library. he lives to serve the the library and would risk his own life for the library's safety
Colour: Red/Orange body, Dark purple/black armor energy aura
Style: Protector,Keeper of the Great Library
Personality: Nasus is a protective person
Accessories:
Back story: The enigmatic creature known as Nasus came to the League from a faraway world, and served as part of a vast and learned desert empire. There he was a respected and enlightened individual, having been made the Keeper of the Great Library. However, he was also part of a race of animalistic creatures that served as the rulers and protectors of the people. Unfortunately, there were others of his kind that believed they were more than protectors. They were under the egotistical delusion that they had ascended to become gods. War on Nasus's world was never more than a breath away, as these deluded others sought to enslave the people and establish a totalitarian sovereignty. In the midst of a heated battle, just as Nasus was about to slay his treacherous brother Renekton, he was pulled through the cosmos to a summoning circle in Runeterra.

At first angered that he had been taken just as he was about to cripple the enemies of his people, Nasus' advanced intellect won out when he heard the pleas of mercy from the summoners. He learned that Runeterra was also filled with its own brand of injustice. This danger was no less threatening than what he had fought against at home, and champions were needed to protect the people of this world. Heeding the call, Nasus chose to take his place in the League of Legends, knowing that his brothers and sisters would carry on the fight back home. These days, he is the Curator of the Sands, feeling most at home in the crumbling ruins of the Shurima Desert. However, recent disturbing news has reached the Keeper's ears - rumors that perhaps his brother had not in fact been left behind. If this were the case, the destruction of Renekton would quickly become Nasus' main priority, before this world too faces the threats of his brother's forked tongue and endless ambition.

The Curator of the Sands, though contemplative, is not to be trifled with.

Post Two Copyright, Creative Commons and Piracy.

Copyright, Creative Commons and Piracy.

Task One
In your own words define and describe each of these aspects.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Copyright is a Legal right (Law in most countries) and you can break this Legal right (law) by committing a crime called Piracy.
Piracy is a crime of using something that does not belong to you for your own personal gain.To stop piracy you can use Creative Commons which is a site where you can find things you need with no copyright infringement issues.

Copyright Laws:

Further information on Copyright. Copyright means if you find “something” on the internet that you would like to use in a newspaper for example you would need to contact the creator of that “something (image)” and ask if you could use it in your newspaper or alternatively you could look on “www.creativecommons.org.nz” to look for “something (image)” which has already allowed you to share it. If you do not do one of these two steps and you use this “image” without permission that would be classified as piracy which is agents the law in many countries

Creative Commons.

All or most of the information under this heading is from www.creativecommons.org.nz/licences/licences-explained/” I do not own any of this information.

Here is a description of each of the Creative Commons copyright licences. They are free for anyone to use. You can also download a brochure which explains the New Zealand licences and read more about the Creative Commons licensing approach on the Creative Commons internationalwebsite.

ATTRIBUTION

creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/nz
This licence lets others distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon your work, even commercially, as long as they credit you for the original creation.

ATTRIBUTION-NONCOMMERCIAL

creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/nz
This licence lets others remix, tweak, and build upon your work non-commercially with credit to you (their new works must also be non-commercial).

ATTRIBUTION-SHAREALIKE

creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/nz
This licence lets others remix, tweak, and build upon your work even for commercial purposes, as long as they credit you and license their new creations under the identical terms.

ATTRIBUTION-NONCOMMERCIAL-SHAREALIKE

creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/nz
This licence lets others remix, tweak, and build upon your work non-commercially, as long as they credit you and license their new creations under the identical terms.

ATTRIBUTION-NO DERIVATIVES

creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nd/3.0/nz
This licence allows for redistribution, commercial and non-commercial, as long as it is passed along unchanged and in whole, with credit to you.

ATTRIBUTION-NONCOMMERCIAL-NO DERIVATIVES

creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/nz/
This licence is the most restrictive of our six main licences, only allowing others to download your works and share them with others as long as they credit you, but they can’t change them in any way or use them commercially.

Piracy.

The unauthorized reproduction or use of a copyrighted Item e.g. a movie or book.
You can be charged with piracy if you share or copy something that is protected by the copyright law(s).
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Task Two
Next you need to discuss how each of these legal, ethical and moral considerations are related.

All three thing of Copyright, Creative commons and Piracy are related in some way for example if you are doing piracy you are breaking copyright and to not break copyright you have to be using the creative commons layout, and by using creative commons you are not committing the criminal act of piracy.

Further depth if you want to or think you can break copyright without doing the criminal act of piracy you are wrong any breach of any creative commons licence is agents the law in certain country's and can be a serious offence which may lead to jail time.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Task Three
Next you will need to write a brief case study on the controversy surrounding the online file sharing/storage service megaupload and the new file sharing/storage service www.mega.co.nz

This case study primarily involves you discussing issues regarding copyright law and piracy to do this you may draw from following points, to start you off:

1) How copyright law has been breached which = Piracy & Unethical and immoral behavior
2) How copyright law has been worked around? Is there a grey area?
3) Megaupload was shut down. Who are the significant players in this scenario?
4) How did/do both sites work?
5) Are there other sites that operate in a similar way that have or have not been shut down?

The copyright law of Megaupload was breached as they did not encrypt their files to an extent on where it was impossible to see what that file way and if that file was breaching copyright infringement. Mega has found a way to work around the copyright infringement and piracy acts by encrypting their files so they are practically impossible to read so they do not know what that file contains and if it is breaching the copyright laws or not. When Megaupload was shut down the successor Mega was a significant player as they have gained most if not all of the Megaupload users which was proven when within the first 24 hours of Mega.co.nz being up over 1,000,000 users had registered as well as 60 completed uploads per second. both websites worked with encryption files but only one encryption file was successful as mega can not un-encrypt what they have encrypted

Post four Asset & File Management

You will need to explain how asset management and file management are applied in the development of digital media outcomes.
______________________________________________________________________________
Asset management is big part to a digital media outcome it can make or break a project. In this case Asset management is helping us create out gingerbread man (the image on the left) to do so we used the asset management  list (image on the right) to help create and tweak out gingerbread man. The image on the left has armature (in this case the bones of our gingerbread man) when the armature is in the correct places you can parent it to the gingerbread body so you can actually move the body parts e.g. the arms and legs, and not just have a big lifeless body shape.

______________________________________________________________________________
File management is also a key factor to the creation of anything on blender so items are easy to open and find for example i have Three folders in my INM folder named blender, blogger and relative images everything in blender goes into a sub folder which is named models for my blender models or animation walk for my rendered animation walk which is 58 images. i also used a walk cycle file which went into my relative images file as it is not a model or a animated walk it is a image to help me create my animation walk as it has the outline of the shape the armature needs. An example of a non appropriate file management would be something like 1 folder in another folder inside another folder which means 4 different folders inside each other which would be time consuming and a waste of your own time towards the work that you could already have completed by the time you have open your final file. below is an example of simple file management

______________________________________________________________________________
For this task you will need to discuss the importance of effective and appropriate asset management and file management in the development of digital media outcome.
______________________________________________________________________________
The importance of asset and file management varies depending on the users needs. The asset management is important as it controls the way a application works take blender for example it will not work without assets, as you need assets to help you project get pieced together as you can select small and important particles with ease on the asset management list then you can move them to where they are needed but with bigger particles you can select them on the main screen as they are clickable.

File management is a key factor to any digital media outcome as it helps you store your work which you will need to complete the standard (outcome).File management is used in various ways such as .zip, .mp3, .mov, etc. Making sure you have the right file format is needed as it can corrupt you work if it is saved as a wrong file format for example if you save a blender file as a different program it will not open as blender used a specific file format to be open by that program, When opening these files make sure you are using the correct program e.g. you want to used windows media player(.mov, .mp4, .mp3 .avi)and  but you use the VLC media player(.vlc) instead that Will work but may change the quality of the video and media files attached to the video and or music file. File management is not just file formats(the way you save files with the .***) It is also the way you store your files in folders. Folder management is a key factor to File management as when you have simple and clean folder management it will help you with file management as it keeps .mp3 or .mov folders together instead of in different places. this works wonderfully when you have an assessment due you store everything related to that assessment and then it is simple and easy to find.

Virutal Currency

We are going to write about virtual currency and the ethics that are related to the right and wrongs of Bit-Coin.

By:  Team Joseph (Joseph, Mashuk, Arden, Ranish, Grayson).
Bit-Coins is a virtual currency that is used by thousands of people and has just recently been popular due to the rise in its value. The people who would have power in this scenario would be individuals who have access to fast computers and know how to use special software designed to mine bit-coins. The people who don’t have access to fast computers would be losing out as they don’t have the computer knowledge to do this on their own. Investors are making a lot of money from Bit-Coins as recently the price has risen, but as it is a high risk investment it is also possible to lose a lot of money.

Bit-Coins is a virtual currency that is recognized as a real form of currency. And can be transferred and used at banks and shops etc. At the moment it is not getting taxed, but legislations are being made so that Bit-Coins should be taxed as they have a high value. As Bit-Coins are virtual they are harder to lose as their value is stored online in a Bit-Coin wallet, which you can use to make free transactions online rather than getting taxed by banks. As Bit-Coins is an online currency people are able to take advantage of this and mine it. The process in mining Bit-Coins is downloading a program for your computer that’s uses up your CPU (Central Processing Unit) and your GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) to work out mathematic equations. In exchange for using your CPU and GPU power usage people receive a certain amount of Bit-Coin shares. The more equations that are solved the more shares of Bit-Coins you receive. At the moment that this report is being written one Bit-Coin has a value of $595.74.

As Bit-coins are a high risk investment they don’t have a stable price. An example of this is the price of a single Bit-coin dropped 27%. People can manipulate the virtual currency system and illegally mine for bit-coins. It is difficult to track how many Bit-coins there are and bit-coins can also be used to purchase illegal goods. The value of real life currency is represented by gold which a commodity however bit-coins are not represented by any commodity.

Bit-coins could worsen the state of our economy because we would have all these bit-coins and no way to track what they are spend on and who purchased it. Bit-coins could also put banks out of customers as everyone would be using online money.

=)
